Reserve Sun & Shade is built around three species, each doing a specific job.
The foundation is 80% Perennial Ryegrass, grown on our family farm and blended from multiple top-performing cultivars chosen for deep green color, fine leaf texture, rapid germination, and exceptional wear tolerance. Perennial ryegrass is the species of choice for the world's most demanding professional turf — chosen by groundskeepers who need a surface that looks immaculate and holds up under heavy use.
The shade specialist is 10% Chewings Fescue, a fine-bladed cool season grass that performs genuinely well in partial shade. It fills the corners and edges of a real residential lawn where direct sun fades through the day, delivering consistent coverage across the full range of light conditions your lawn sees.
The differentiator is 10% Kentucky Bluegrass. KBG spreads via underground stems called rhizomes, quietly filling thin spots and bare patches that bunch-type grasses like ryegrass cannot reach on their own. While perennial ryegrass gives you fast establishment and exceptional early appearance, Kentucky Bluegrass builds the long-term density and resilience that defines a truly premium lawn.
